SUMMARY:Spring Bird Hike - Interstate Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Expert Birder\, Brian Collins for a spring hike at Interstate Park!\nThe early bird gets the worm! Start your weekend right with an early morning bird hike led by Brian Collins\, an expert birder who has identified over 60 birds in previous years. Be sure to bring binoculars to best spot the spring birds! We will walk out and back and be in search of migrating birds and those who will make their nests there for the season. \nWe will meet at Camp Interstate and check out nests of the Blue Herons as we walk up the hill through the Group Camp. You may also join us at the Group Camp parking area around 7:20 a.m. We will walk down the Silver Brook trail to the bridge and back. \nPlease dress for the weather\, including rain gear if needed. These hikes will only be called off if severe weather is imminent. A valid Wisconsin State Park Pass is required. \nWe will meet at Camp Interstate and check out nests of the Blue Herons before hiking the Skyline Trail. (Parking area Circled in Red Below.)

SUMMARY:First Day Hike - Straight Lake State Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Park Manager Hannah Cross on a mile-long hike on the Rainbow Lake Trail loop at Straight Lake State Park. As a group\, traverse the glacial terrain surrounding Rainbow Lake. This trail offers beautiful views of the lake and forest with some steep inclines. A warming fire will be at the parking lot\, as well as snacks and refreshments provided by the Friends of Interstate and Straight Lake State Parks. Be sure to dress for cold weather\, including hats\, gloves\, and warm jackets. There are no heated buildings at Straight Lake. Visitors are welcome to bring snowshoes if there is enough snow. Pets are welcome on the hike\, but must be under control and on a physical leash no longer than 8ft at all times. Valid vehicle admission is required for this event. Vehicle admission passes can be purchased at the event or in advance online.

Pets are welcome on the hike but must be under control and on a physical leash no longer than 8 feet at all times. Pets are not allowed within the Ice Age Interpretive Center. Valid vehicle admission is required for this event. Vehicle admission passes can be purchased at the park office or in advance online.
