SUMMARY:The Art of Journaling with Watercolors
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a relaxing and creative watercolor journaling experience at Wisconsin Interstate Park! Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist\, this hands-on workshop will introduce you to the art of observing and documenting nature through watercolor painting and journaling. \nGuided by teaching artist Lauren Hefty\, participants will learn techniques for sketching\, watercolor painting\, color mixing\, composition\, and recording observations in a nature journal. During the indoor instructional session\, you’ll gain practical skills and inspiration before heading outdoors to explore the beauty of Interstate Park’s scenic landscapes\, river views\, rock formations\, forests\, and wildlife. \nNature journaling is a wonderful way to slow down\, connect with the natural world\, and develop a deeper appreciation for the environment. Through a combination of art\, observation\, and creativity\, you’ll create your own watercolor journal pages while learning how to capture the colors\, textures\, and stories found in nature. \nAll supplies are provided\, making this an excellent opportunity to try watercolor journaling for the first time or expand your existing artistic skills. SUMMARY:Universe in the Park
DESCRIPTION:A typical Universe in the Park (UitP) session begins just after sunset with a 30-40 minute talk and slide show about astronomy. While particular topics are left up to the presenters\, they usually give a broad overview of one or two astronomy topics. Recent astronomical news is frequently discussed\, such as the discovery of new solar systems\, the demotion of Pluto\, and the latest results from the Hubble Space Telescope. \nAt the conclusion of the talk\, weather permitting\, we set up a moderate aperture (8″-10″) telescope and provide park visitors the opportunity to view available astronomical objects. UitP sessions run as long as there are people interested in looking through the telescope\, and the parks typically close before the interest has been sated. \nThough all are welcome\, the talk is best suited for ages 8+\, and telescope viewing for ages 4+. \nThe program is free\, but a vehicle admissions sticker/pass is required.

SUMMARY:Snake Discovery!
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Interstate Park -Ice Age Interpretive Center for an exciting afternoon of reptiles and amphibians! You will get an opportunity to watch a salamander eat\, debunk turtle myths\, touch live snakes and more! The Snake Discovery center will bring a tiger salamander\, 1-2 native turtles\, 3-4 native snakes\, and 2-4 exotic reptiles (just for fun). A large boa constrictor makes an appearance as well. Time is reserved after the presentation to touch and hold the reptiles for a truly hands-on experience.
