While unsightly\, it is necessary. These trees are either Ash trees that have been or will be infested with Emerald Ash Borer\, or they are trees that have been determined to be hazardous. This work was not completed in 2025; many more are scheduled to be cut down in 2026. \nWhile it is unfortunate that trees need to be cut down\, it comes with the landscape. The good thing about trees is that new ones grow. The Friends of Interstate and Straight Lake State Parks are planning to jump start the process. We have dedicated this year’s Give Big campaign to purchase trees for planting in the park to replace some of the trees that have been removed.
