The Art of Journaling with Watercolors

July 18 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join us for a relaxing and creative watercolor journaling experience at Wisconsin Interstate Park! Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, this hands-on workshop will introduce you to the art of observing and documenting nature through watercolor painting and journaling.

Guided by teaching artist Lauren Hefty, participants will learn techniques for sketching, watercolor painting, color mixing, composition, and recording observations in a nature journal. During the indoor instructional session, you’ll gain practical skills and inspiration before heading outdoors to explore the beauty of Interstate Park’s scenic landscapes, river views, rock formations, forests, and wildlife.

Nature journaling is a wonderful way to slow down, connect with the natural world, and develop a deeper appreciation for the environment. Through a combination of art, observation, and creativity, you’ll create your own watercolor journal pages while learning how to capture the colors, textures, and stories found in nature.

All supplies are provided, making this an excellent opportunity to try watercolor journaling for the first time or expand your existing artistic skills. Bring your curiosity, creativity, and sense of adventure as we explore the outdoors through art in one of Wisconsin’s most beautiful state parks.
