We started the day by reading an interesting book about how plants grow, eager to look at the amazing pictures. Then, each child planted a variety of seeds in a wet paper towel and plastic bag. And then, off we went to the Juniper Jewel greenhouse.
It was a gorgeous sunny day to study plants at the greenhouse. The kids got out of the cars quickly , excited to be in the fresh air, to smell the flowers and dirt and see the beautiful plants. The employees were friendly and smiling-eager to help the kids learn about plants. The kids were excited to work on a scavenger hunt-scurrying from clue to clue. Everyone got a prize for finishing the activity.
We were able to go into the growing greenhouse and see the tiny plants ready to go into bigger pots. We left the greenhouse with first hand experience with roots, stems, leaves and flowers. What a Great day for growing and learning!
A special thank you is extended to Juniper Jewel for sharing more about plants with Nature Storytime!
